Our Team

Michael has served as the TSO Bandera office manager since 2018. He supports the mission of Dr. Perez and her team of providing a noticeably different experience for every patient. From booking an appointment to checking in, the eye exam itself, or the visit to the optical, Michael strives to help make the experience not just great, but simply extraordinary. He also is a licensed CPA and works at his local CPA firm as a second full-time job. While he brings his vast business experience into the office, he also enjoys the optical world and helping any patient who may have a unique need. He is an expert at finding a solution for any difficult issues that may arise. He may not always be in the office, but he remains committed to being accessible and to helping support the TSO Bandera family.

Shantel completed her CPO, CPOA, and CPOT certifications to become a certified Paraoptometric Technician in 2014. She also obtained her bachelor’s in biology degree while working full-time. She has over 10 yrs of optometric experience. Not only does she provide the best patient care possible but is both our contact lens specialist and billing specialist. Shantel has two dogs she adores and spends her weekend cuddling on the couch with them watching her favorite movies. With her quirky and friendly personality, she continues to fall further in love with the optometry world.

Ruben is an ABO-certified optician with over 7 years of optical experience. He specializes in selecting the best lens options for our patients, along with providing the most accurate measurements, to ensure optimal visual acuity is achieved. Ruben has a sweet personality and enjoys helping patients find the best pair of glasses to fit everyone’s unique personality. Ruben is our go-to for any spectacle fixes needed and will always help you with a smile. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and his newest family addition, “Breeze” his adopted German Shepherd pup.

Maria is one of our receptionists here at TSO Bandera. She is the newest TSO family member and new to optometry. We are so thankful to have her as a part of our team. Maria has an energic personality and undertakes technician workups. She is currently in school en route to obtain her bachelor's in Psychology in hopes of opening up her own counseling practice one day. Maria spends her weekends with her family and her 3 dogs. Maria and her boyfriend have a miniature schnauzer, a shih tzu, and a rescued pit bull. She loves taking their dogs out to parks and short hikes.

Sonia has been in the Ophthalmic Field for 15+ years. She is an expert with frame styling and proper lens selection. Her expertise and wonderful patient care personality lead her to become one of our lead opticians. She loves helping every patient feel welcomed and cared for. She is exceptionally talented at helping people find their right look. Her positive attitude and optimism are an everyday inspiration to her coworkers and all that know her. Sonia enjoys spending her free time with both her son and daughter.

As you walk into our TSO office you will be greeted and welcomed by our professionally mannered front desk receptionist, Rosie. She maintains a positive attitude while providing excellent customer service. Rosie has over 10 years of experience with administrated support to patients. She is originally from the Rio Grande Valley but loves San Antonio. She is a boy’s mom to three young men. Rosie is married to her high school sweetheart.
